Everything you need to know about Hydraulic Doors for Aviation, Agriculture, Industrial & Architectural use

Hydroswing – Designed by Farmers for Farmers

2. October 2015 08:15 by Hydroswing in Farm Doors

Hydroswing® was born in agriculture. We understand the unique needs of the farmers, and we understand the construction of a multitude of buildings and structures used in this sector. Over the past century, agriculture has been strongly influenced by enhanced mechanization, but even more so by how humans operate those machines. Though the fundamentals of agricultural machinery are basically the same, the technology, size, scope and capabilities have evolved dramatically. Keeping pace with the changes is how farmers “house” their equipment.  Over the last decade the single panel hydraulic agricultural door has become the “door of choice” for farmers across the country. Bifolds are unsafe, and roller doors are outdated. The superior technology, safety and sophistication of the Hydroswing hydraulic door system is revolutionizing the way farmers close their shops, sheds, barns and buildings.

Whether its post and frame, metal, Quonset, or any other type of structure, a single panel Hydroswing® hydraulic door system provides a maximum opening dimension, very little impact on the building, maximum strength, almost 100% “sealability,” very low in service life costs, reliability, massively reduced number moving parts and greater safety. The agriculture industry revolves heavily around hydraulics, so it’s easy to see why the Hydroswing® has become the premier door for farmers across the country and around the world.

The post frame build can vary tremendously depending on the size and scope of the end structure. Hydroswing® can fit and/or retro fit almost any pole barn or post frame building with doors as large as 40' tall to 150' wide. Our system creates reduced building height/cost WITHOUT reduced door opening dimension, and a very small part count in the structural mechanism of the door (no pulleys of any kind). Today’s farmer is looking for simplicity and quality. The Hydroswing® offers an integral pre-hung frame that has little dependence on the building, which allows us to easily adapt a door to any structure. From an aesthetic perspective, the ability to clad the door with the same thermal properties as the building walls, keeps the visual clean and modern.

Pre-engineered metal buildings (PEB’s) have also been prominent in agricultural settings. The structures originally became popular during World War II for barracks and maintenance facilities. After the war, the industry continued to blossom and with the power of computer aided design (CAD), today’s metal buildings can be applied to almost any non-residential use. The Hydroswing® fits easily into new construction on metal buildings or is the ideal choice for replacing an outdated or beyond economic repair existing door such as a bifold, slider or top hung.

The concept behind Hydroswing’s strong, single-panel, hydraulic design was born and bred by the demand for a more efficient door from the farmers and ranchers in the rural area. Hydroswing® has quickly become the door of choice for savvy Ag industry professionals. Although the Hydroswing phenomenon now reaches across a variety of industries, the agricultural customer remains the backbone of the business.  Hydroswing® doors are engineered specifically to provide a cost-effective solution to meet the demands of the agricultural industry. Hydroswing® delivers strength, efficiency and reliability, utilizing the same hydraulic technology that you use on your heavy equipment every day to get the job done. Why would you trust anything less for your doors?

Hydroswing for Quonset Buildings – There’s Nothing We Can’t Do!

4. November 2014 10:16 by Hydroswing in Agriculture, Architectural Doors, Farm Doors

The history of the Quonset hut (or Quonset “building”) dates back to World War l. In 1941, the US Navy was in need of an all-purpose, lightweight building that could be shipped anywhere and assembled without skilled labor. The Quonset hut was modeled after the Nissen hut which had previously been designed by the British. The name “Quonset” comes from the site of where the hut was first manufactured, Quonset Point, at the (now closed) Davisville Naval Construction Battalion Center in Davisville, Rhode Island.

The Quonset is usually constructed with corrugated galvanized steel. This lightweight prefabricated structure became a mainstay in war time for its strong demeanor and quick assembly. Between 150,000 and 170,000 Quonset huts were manufactured during World War II, with the surplus being sold to the public. The most common design created a standard size of 20 ft. × 48 ft. (6 m × 15 m) with 10 ft. (3 m) radius, allowing 720 square feet (67 m²) of usable floor space, with optional four-foot (1.2 m) overhangs at each end for protection of entrances from the weather. Other sizes were developed, including 20 ft. × 40 ft. (6 m × 12 m) and 40 ft. × 100 ft. (12 m × 30 m) warehouse models.

Over the years, the Quonset has been adapted for commercial use across a number of sectors. With flexible interior space possibilities, the natural fit has invariably been agriculture. These buildings are ideal for countless agricultural applications and Hydroswing® is the most effective door option for this kind of structure. Because of its unique shape, it’s important to have the exact door to accommodate the opening you need – on the side of the structure, or on either or both ends. Whether your Quonset is being used for additional storage space, or houses vital equipment, the Hydroswing® door allows for maximum headroom and the most efficient use of space.  Quonsets now come in a number of shapes and sizes and Hydroswing® can accommodate them all.

When considering a door for your Quonset, it’s important to know that a Hydroswing has no add on frames or needs no special structures. Our doors are pre hung, preassembled and ready to install. When fitted to your existing Quonset, the Hydroswing® single panel hydraulic door adds strength and functionality that can’t be accomplished with a bifold or roller door. In addition to Quonsets, the Hydroswing® can be fitted to steel, wood, tensile and concrete structures with little or no alteration to existing door size. In the event you choose to build new or replace the Quonset, just  unbolt the Hydroswing® and simply refit your Hydroswing® to your new building, (or Hydroswing® can do this for you.)

 There’s only one choice… it’s a Hydroswing®.
